I did my bachelor on Physics (1987-1991) at Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (now Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla) and postgraduate studies (MsC and PhD)
on Physics (1992-1998) at CINVESTAV-IPN, (Mexico City),
supervised by Professor Juan Jose Alvarado Gil. In 1998 I moved to the University of Guanajuato at Leon, Mexico, first
in the Institute of Physics (1998-2008) and since 2008, in the Department of Physical Engineering of the Sciences and
Engineering Division. From January to December of 1998 I was posdoctoral research associate at the Departamento de
Física Aplicada I, Universidad Del País Vasco, working with Professor Agustin Sanchez-Lavega. From July of
2007 to August of 2008 I was a Scholar Research Visitor at the Biomedical Engineering Department in the Christopher S.
Bond Life Sciences Center, University of Missouri with Professor John A. Viator.
My scientific production has 36 peer review articles (6 in Mexican journals and 30 in international journals), 33
proceedings (18 in Mexican and 15 in internationalcongresses) with more than 120 citations. I have attended over
30 conferences with more than 70 papers presented. I have been responsible for two projects supported by the
University of Guanajuato, and nine projects supported by external institutions, including two supported by CONACyT
and two by CONCyTEG. I'm reviewer of the International Journal of Thermophysics and of the Surfaces and Vacuum
Journal. Due to this scientific production I'm member of the Mexican System of Researchers rank 1.
Currently I'm interested on theoretical and experimental study of the:
These projects are central actors in modern Photoacoustic. Most of my work focuses in the use of the thermoelastic
model of the Photoacoustic Effect, for the aforementioned research topics.
Since 2009 I'm research consultant of the Physical and Computational Biomedical Imaging Program at the Centro de Ciencias
Aplicadas y Desarrollo Tecnológico of the UNAM (CCECADET-UNAM), working on the modeling photoacoustic effect for several systems with Professor Crescencio
Garcia-Segundo. Also, since 2009 I'm a visiting Professor at the Dalton Cardiovascular Research Center of the University of
Missouri working on the photoacoustic detection of circulating cancer cells with Professor Luis Polo-Parada.
Since 1998, I have taught over 80 courses to undergraduate, MsC and PhD programs of the Science and Engineering Division.
I have directed thirteen bachelor thesis, 10 MSc thesis, and 1 Ph D thesis. I'm currently directing 3 bachelor thesis, 2
MSc thesis and 4 PhD thesis. I have participated in the organization of seven states scientific events, one national
scientific event and one international scientific event. I was proceedings editor of the Eighth Mexican Symposium on
Medical Physics (2004).
I have taken part in the Management and in the Governance Life of the University of Guanajuato.
All these activities must be done continuously. Because I do these yearly, in Mexico I'm Professor with Desirable
Profile PROMEP.
